Photo Booth Selfies

I chose this image as I like the way the photographer has included herself in the centre of the image. She is framed by all of the objects around her. She has used the mirror to convey all of her emotions-she looks sad, or serious. I think that the black and white add lots of tones and I think that this adds to the mystery as it both hides and reveals objects. There are objects in both the background and foreground. It reminds me of a junk store or a second hand store. Also the way in which she is framed reminds me a painting.

5) I don’t really know who i want to dress up as just something from a time period or fantasy carricter

inge morath and saul steinberg: masquerade
the simplicity of the idea but the complexity that is implemented in the image is a masing it is a ideal that feels it would fail but it springily works well but as you think you can start to see the potential of the blank slate that is the bag meant you can look any way you want . Saul Steinberg was a renowned illustrator and artist when in 1958 photographer Inge Morath arrived at his New York apartment. She rang the door. He pulled on a paper bag with a face drawn on it in black marker pen and answered. Morath took the photo. And then others posed for her wearing a Steinberg mask. In 2000, Steinberg and Morath compiled the portraits into the book .in a 1967 video, Saul Steinberg explains what he thinks of masks and their purpose. “The personal remark, the visible emotion, has no place in society,” he says. “Of course a mask is something that’s useful, it’s necessary, but it’s also something ugly, because it takes away all the poetry, the spontaneity of life away from people. The more organized society, the more we have these masks.”

Shadow photo
The centre of the image is the most highlighted, the door is where there is the most light. It is also contrasted by the dominant shadow of the person taking the photograph. The shadow is of the photographer and his hand and the camera. The shadow is harsh because the of the light source which is probably artificial light. I think that the light is shining directly onto the door as it is so harsh. If it was natural it would be more evenly distributed over the door and the shadow would be softer.
The curved line around the face and the neck act as the most dominant lines, and the line around the camera and the line of the door which is a straight line of the door directs us to the main action of the image. The lines don't show too much energy but the show the photographer.
There are mostly curved lines which are repeated, the face is repeated in the shadow. There are a lot of rectangles from the door lock and the camera. and the mane door itself.
There are a slue of shapes geometric and organic you have the isometric shapes of the lock
door and camera contasted with the almost all organic shape of the photographer
SHAPE: do you see geometric or organic shapes? What are they? How do they relate to one another?
TEXTURE: if you could touch the surface of the photograph how would it feel? How do the objects in the picture look like they would feel?

LINE: are there objects in the photograph that act as lines? Are they straight, curvy, thin, thick? Do the lines create direction in the photograph? Do they outline? 1) to reveal the protagonist in a mysterious and erey way by not letting you cache a glimpse of them and to add up level the suspense with in the master pease and making them more like an ethereal being then a person an observer and a carector this an much more
2) it helped give life to the story created by the images and there placement and the meticulously thought out implementation of specific words .
3) tat photography is not one linear thing more like an esamonaton of the inscruteble mistory that makes up the magic of the
photogoper consensus

i can see that in both photos the most captivating bit of it is the hand at the centre of the image that adds a thin layer of mystery to
it along with the fact there both in black and white also the sting of the images fervor more there taken within the sheltor of a building and tho i sed stuff that’s makes uncanny continuity here are some parts of the photo that are very dissimilar the fact that in photo 1 there is a car with a photo of a hand of a person but it was an actually person fervor more there is also another hidden at the corner of the photo but in clear visible there is sparse details in the background and most of the attention is brought to the mid ground with the car and the photographers shadow
Whilst photo 2 has more attention being brung from the foreground and in to the background instead focusing in on the objects in the view from the door way of the room and with the objects comes the way there obstructing the view of the person with the view being obscured it lives us to peace stuff together using are cerebral mass inside the cranium .
the photo one uses the move meant of a frame to high light the significant sections of the photo to bewilder the mind into thinking he is using a photo to make a person when in fact you need to se why its a self portrait to see what went on in the photo . Photo 2 uses the environment around them to create the perfect frame for the photograph capturing the right frame to the image
Photo 1 has the obstructing of the face of the man along with black and white to create a sense of ambiguity like this photo 2 also does a similar things that it makes it almost like an enigma with some aspect being slightly different like 2 people being almost all obscured
i don’t really have a strong preference on witch is superior but if i was to choose one i would pick photo 2 as it really got me captivated to it

Franacesca Woodman self portrait
- Because they used a medium format camera .
- a section of the plane fo which there is an absence of wall wer ther is a usually a pease of wood atached by a hinge wic reveals 2 forms hiden by spesific items .
- there are 2
- it is a self portrait as the photographers form is seen
- Outside the door
- by actevating the camera
- i dont realy have an abselut definitive atetude but it can’t be denied that ther is a sens of fear loming over the photo
- the position of the object creates a .fealing of ambiguety wch i feals makes the photo crepy almost it looks like its natral as the light has a naral graduated plus it comes strate from the side from a gap the shape of a window
Kenneth Josephson
- its not.
- a car ,a persons arm in the car, the photographers arm holding an empty frame and his shadow on the car.
- there are ether three people at the minimum.
- as you can see the photographers form in the photo as a shadow.
- in the photographers hands.
- by using a camera for chemical reactions casing a photo .
- yes but i don’t know why
- its positiond to create 2 different sonareois in the photo
- it is artificial in some parts and natural in others i know this by the positioning the intenserty and the way it blends in to the shadow
