Layers
I chose layers as it can be scene as a largely vered and there is an aspect of sole control which speaks to me and also an uncontrolebilety of outcome one happy little accident could give a completely different style to a layerd photo. it is a theme of reality that you can see in the world around you but is also able to be recreated sinphetcly and is one thing that never fails to draw my eye .these artiststs help fill me up with ideas and imagenation it also helps presents my view of my world around me as it can be a complex intanglements but sometimes theere is a clear divide of the sections of my world or even both at the same time.
Nobuhiro Nakanishi
Nobuhiro Nakanishi is my insperation with her layerd work using multiple photographs of the same area at diferent tmes to creat a work of multiple coulers and angles that truly feels emersive. and i've always bean obseast with such ideas so i choes this artist to research.
this work seams to combine light coler and imagery using colifull photos over the time and peacing them to gever to over lap as such that at the rigt positon thay seem almost like elongated imge whilst having the multiple sepret imiges it has refractions on the floor from the ligt beang bloked by the layers the cerved natre of its shape helps give the peas a sence of expansive size ive. ime mostly atracte4d to the distlation of the light and the way there distorted by the coluer sheets .
the focus is both on the front on photo but also the exstended vershon that the imige as it slowly tranforms in coller and the cange of the sky as if it was an exstended panoramik vew. This series portrays changes that take place in everyday life, like the sun rising or ice cream melting. and the photos wer taken in reguler intivils then printed on clear film to then laiter be asembled.
if i would ask a question to the artist it woulds have to be the question . what most led you to a-tempt such a work as this ?

i would like to atempt a similar thing but creat a scean using multiple layers to mke it into one compleat imige and to use phisical death to help elude to my photos and this is why i beleve it will enrivch me
My initial attempt prep.
this is my experiment on how my ideas are going to tern out before actually attempting the fisical thing you can think of it as a dabble before the dive. and you can see i want to layer many clear sheats with my photo on it for my project. I onkly need to try this out in physical form
this is my initial mock up for the structure to hold my photos
this is my initial dabble before I decide to properly dive
Harry Callahan
Another photographer that inspired me is Harry Callahan. He is known for his landscapes and cityscape photographs he tends to avoid literal representations in his work, instead he places emphasis on abstract design. I find his street photography using city buildings as his backdrop and then layering further images on top whist offsetting by a marginal amount intrinsically interesting.
Image analysis.
Detroit, 1943 by Harry Callahan.
Harry Callahan started as an untrained amateur photographer in 1938. This image was probably taken on his daily excursions around his hometown city of Detroit where he searched for inspiration. The primary reason for this photograph was for experimentation, as his technical photographic technique was to take many photographs and work with multiple exposures. He was inspired by modern art movements cubism and suprematism.
the camera he primarily used was a Leica 35mm.
This photo has 2 points of interest due to the merger of two sets of photos created by double exposure. The back image of a seemingly quiet street and the second a place bustling with people, this show the duality of the city. It shows the power of movement of people in a busy city street, which I can relate to my own experience walking in central London. As a photography teacher he encouraged his students to turn their cameras on their own lives I feel this can inspire myself to explore my own surroundings. This image captures the contrast with the sharp blend of light and dark sections of such areas similar to those I have witnessed. The most interesting part of the photograph to me was the shapes of the buildings from an urban environment overlaid what the outlines of the people. this artist came up with this work using photos of old contacts and childhood friends which they do not talk with any more. They did not have any thing like colour on there mind
with these inverted photos i'm going to be put them on acetate then i am probably going to layer those on top or behind one another in the dark room and attempt to layer them similar to Harry Callahan .

Desmemoras by Lucas Simões.
The artist started his career as an architect which I feel influenced his use of light and shape to build layers into his work. This is another abstract work.
It seems like layers of a human face cut up and formed in to geometric shapes. It looks like as distorted head of someone forgotten by memory, once important but now an only a shattered visage. This image was part of a series. The portraits were talking whilst in conversation with the subject. He took 10 photos of each subject and did not treat the photos with any particular colour in mind Then cut and placed them together as though a continuous pattern. The lighting has changed in each layer give a feeling of movement of the subject. One feels this particular image has an appearance of a honeycombe.
I think that the geometric shapes, built into layers are effective for creating a feeling of depth. I have learnt the importance of patterns and shapes when constructing my own work. I want to use the idea of layers within my own work.
I feel it has a disturbing aspect, with use of misaligned facial features which. In my opinion there is no singular part or aspect to this piece that is superior to the rest. It needs to be viewed as a whole.
If I were to met the artist I would ask what made you decide to do this type of photography? Which image is your favourite?

my assessment plan
i will continue my work inpired by Harry Callahan and use some asitete sheets and develop it in the dark room with some pre developed images maid on photoshop then printed out before being used to develop the photos on pho graphics paper .
